Craftsmen Training Scheme -New Age Courses
National Skill Training Institute (W) , Thiruvananthapuram is an Institute under Directorate General of Training, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India is conducting the following Craftsman Training Scheme (CTS) - New Age courses under the aegis of NCVT :

Combination of Subjects : The following subjects are covered
- Professional Knowledge (Trade Technology)
- Professional Skill (Trade Practical)
- Employability Skills
Start of session : 1st August of every year.
Eligibility for Admission : For CTS- New Age trades minimum Qualification is 10th standard pass. Merit will be as per the marks scored in Basic qualification. Reservations as per Central Government Reservation Policy
Age limit : Minimum 14 years as on first day of academic session.
Admission & Award of Certificate : Candidates can enroll for the above programmes. A candidate has to secure 33 % in Trade Theory, 33% in employability skills, and 60% in Trade Practical marks and also have a minimum of 80 % attendance only the candidates will be allowed to appear for the final examination conducted by NCVT, New Delhi. On passing the prescribed exam, trainees will be awarded the National Trade Certificate from NCVET.

Hostel : Hostel facilities are available for trainees on payment of Rs. 100/- per month as Hostel rent and Rs. 50/- as Hostel service charge. Hostel Caution money Rs. 125/- per session(Refundable) are also to be deposited for availing hostel. Separate hostel facilities are available for ladies. Messing charges Rs. 1800/- per month extra to be borne by the candidates.
Games : Different Game items available for the trainees
Working Hours : From 09.00 am to 5.30 pm with half hour lunch break on all working days(Monday to Friday).
Attendance : Minimum 80% attendance is required to appear in the Final Trade Test to be held at the end of the course.
